Through The Lens

I will use today to give a tip. Its simple.

No matter if its a model session, wedding, or fast moving event that I have scheduled there are certain things I do before them all.

Clean the gear! You don’t have to get in there and swab the sensor but a little TLC goes a long ways!

Before a shoot or sometimes the night before I will wipe my lenses down. This includes the cleaning of the filters etc since they take the brunt of the environmental factors. I usually leave the internals of the lenses alone and wait for my monthly cleaning for that type of stuff. (please do not try to clean the inside of a lens or a camera body unless you know what you are doing)

The camera body I will use a Blower and blow that into the mirror to clean off any removable dust.

Clean your memory cards off! You don’t want to get to the shoot and throw a card in and there are pictures on there and you don’t know if they can be deleted or not. So don’t forget to format/clean the cards off before you leave for the shoot!

I personally clean every piece of gear I have even though I might not be using that piece of gear for the shoot.

The most important piece… Clear your head! You owe it to yourself and to the client/subject your full undivided attention! Make sure that you are able to use every section of that artistic mind to create a spectacular image! Believe me… cleaning all of the gear is 10 times easier than fully clearing your mind
